CHRISTIAN ELDERS AND PROFESSIONALS CONSULTATIVE COUNCIL OF NIGERIA (CEPCCN)

The Christian Elders and Professionals Consultative Council of Nigeria (CEPCCN) commends every sincere effort aimed at promoting accountable leadership, constitutional governance, institutional integrity, and responsible public service as political activities ahead of the 2027 General Elections continue to gather momentum across the nation.
The Council believes that democracy flourishes when responsible citizens, public institutions, professional organisations, faith-based bodies, and civil society groups participate actively and constructively in national conversations concerning governance, public policy, economic development, security, justice, and the welfare of the people. Silence in the face of genuine national concerns seldom advances democracy, while respectful and constructive engagement strengthens public confidence and promotes institutional growth.
As our elders wisely remind us, “A loving friend speaks the truth for correction, not for condemnation.” Likewise, the Holy Scriptures teach that “Faithful are the wounds of a friend” (Proverbs 27:6). These timeless principles remind us that sincere counsel, offered with wisdom, humility, and love, remains one of the greatest services that responsible citizens can render to their nation.
CEPCCN therefore recognises and encourages every voice that contributes responsibly to national discourse through lawful, peaceful, factual, and constructive engagement. Honest observations concerning governance, economic management, electoral integrity, institutional independence, and national development should never be viewed merely through partisan lenses but appreciated as opportunities to improve public administration and strengthen democratic institutions.
The Council respectfully encourages leaders at every level of government to remain open to constructive criticism, objective policy recommendations, and sincere counsel from citizens, professionals, religious leaders, and relevant stakeholders. Listening to diverse perspectives does not weaken leadership; rather, it demonstrates confidence, maturity, transparency, and commitment to the public good. History consistently shows that nations advance when governments cultivate dialogue, encourage accountability, and respond thoughtfully to the legitimate concerns of the people.
As preparations for the 2027 General Elections continue, CEPCCN urges all political parties, candidates, government institutions, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, religious organisations, traditional institutions, civil society organisations, the media, and citizens to conduct themselves with the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, patriotism, and respect for the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Council further recommends that political campaigns should focus on ideas, policies, competence, character, and practical solutions to the nation’s challenges rather than divisive rhetoric, misinformation, ethnic or religious prejudice, personal attacks, or actions capable of undermining national peace and democratic stability. Elections should remain peaceful contests of ideas conducted within the framework of law, justice, fairness, and mutual respect.
CEPCCN also calls upon Nigerians to continue supporting institutions and leaders who demonstrate transparency, constitutional fidelity, accountability, inclusiveness, and responsible governance. Sustainable national development can only be achieved when public trust is strengthened, democratic institutions remain independent, justice is administered fairly, and every citizen enjoys equal protection under the law irrespective of ethnicity, religion, political affiliation, or social status.
Our elders have long taught that “A house built upon justice, truth, and mutual respect stands firm against every storm.” The future of Nigeria depends not only upon the quality of its political leadership but also upon the collective responsibility of its citizens to uphold truth, defend justice, promote peaceful coexistence, and preserve the unity of our nation.
The Christian Elders and Professionals Consultative Council of Nigeria reaffirms its unwavering commitment to promoting biblical values, Christian unity, ethical leadership, constitutional democracy, professional excellence, humanitarian service, responsible citizenship, and sustainable national development. We shall continue to provide objective counsel, constructive policy recommendations, and moral leadership that advance the common good and contribute positively to the peace, stability, and progress of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
