You are a strong leader and many people in Nigeria, especially in South Eastern Nigeria, believe God sent you to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.
My name is Justice Ozobi. I live in South Eastern Nigeria and I lead the Igbo Youth Movement in the Eastern region. I am writing this letter from home, based on what I see and experience every day.
Sir, we the Igbo youths thank you for your good work and support for our people. God bless you and guide you always.
Our people are in deep pain. Many of our youths are missing or being killed every day. We do not know why this is happening. The Nigerian government and some of our own leaders in the East have not been able to stop it. Many of our leaders moved their families out of Nigeria. They use strong security for themselves but leave the rest of us without protection. Because their families are safe outside, they do not feel our pain.
When our people were being attacked, kidnapped and killed, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu tried to protect us. He first asked our leaders to create security for our communities. When they refused, he formed the Eastern Security Network so our villages could defend themselves. After that, our leaders also created another security group called Ebube Agu. Since then, there has been more trouble and fighting in our land.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is still in detention by the Nigerian government. To us, he was arrested for trying to save his people. Our people still stand with him. He is the leader we trust and listen to because we feel our political leaders are not speaking for us.
Sir, we the Eastern Igbo youths are begging the United States of America to help secure the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu because we believe he is innocent. The United States has the power to investigate and see the truth for itself. Please send people to South Eastern Nigeria to hear from us and see what is really happening.
